Year in Review

My Year in Review is a little later this year. It’s late-January of 2025 but it took me a minute to reflect on the gestalt of 2024.
Last year was a tangle of arts, trips, urban studies, and disruption. I’m continuing to seek simplicity while accepting unknowns.
I spent much of the year documenting an emerging arts scene in Seattle. It was fascinating to see the efforts and community-building underway. I became more aware of the competition for recognition in the arts. It was worth the persistence to complete the series.
A variety of national and international travel made for a meaningful year. I was able to explore various locations along the Pacific Coast of North America. Some quick trips were a way to reconnect with old friends and colleagues.
I continued to observe and study the consternating urban issues in downtown Seattle. I realized that these are most interesting to me in the context of international dynamics.
And from a technological perspective, Artificial Intelligence (AI) disrupted many years of my established workflows and processes. I believe that some of the processes were prematurely overwhelmed by overzealous efforts while others were well-suited to the automation. My interest in detail is somewhat undervalued in the glut of new features and products flooding the market. I look forward to the technology maturing enough to balance practicality, efficiency, accuracy, and security.
