The Slam Klam festival was presented in Fez, Morocco in 2008. It was a fitting location, as slam poetry and hip-hop culture often have influence across borders. The music and performance art were commonalities amongst disparate groups of young people, regardless of race or class. The festival was funded by cultural organizations and happened to occur during Ramadan. Creative and passionate musicians and artists socialized with cigarettes and soda, then performed for large crowds into the night.
