Seattle Anthem
This is the beat of the Seattle street.
I’ve woven through the streets of Seattle for the past ten years, speaking with passersby, just nodding, or ignoring them completely, much as they do to me.
Sometimes I take a picture or two. This is a glimpse of public life in the thriving and troubled city.
It’s a series of a moments, frozen while the city is undergoing massive flux as new residents arrive and the landscape changes.
The city has always been a combination of scenic tranquility and a frenetic and pained underbelly, but the disparities have only increased during this project.
While the technological giants dominate commerce much of the population keeps the lights on in public service and the service industries, among other livelihoods.
These are views of the city as it struggles and prospers, enjoined to its fate as a city on the horizon of the frontier, against the ocean with nowhere to go.
